Dad

I went to see my dad this weekend in Littleton, AZ (just over the border from Mesquite). I love my dad, he's such a cool guy. Here's a couple of pics (well, the only pics) I took today. Ain't he handsome? Reminds me of Richard Gere . . .

Calling all you moms!

Okay so preparing for a baby is hard! I started my registries (even though I am not 100% certain it's a boy so it may change after Monday) and with all the different products and brands out there it's hard to know what to use. And I just don't have the time to sit and read through a million customer reviews on line (Amy, would you do that for me? ha ha). So I thought I would ask those that I love and trust the most . . .YOU! Tell me what brands you have and like on the following things:

Strollers- I found a jogging stroller I really like, but a regular stroller, I have no clue.

Car Seats- what are the best kind? Should I get a stroller/car seat that fits together? Or does it matter? What is the safest? Easiest to put in your car. Do I need two?

Bathing products- what are the best soaps and lotions, etc to use on a baby?

Bath tub- do I really need all the fancy colors and gadgets and toys or should I just stick with the basic one until the kid gets bored in the tub?

Audio monitors- what's the best? Which one has the farthest range? Best quality of sound?

Is there anything else I can't live without? I've registered for a boppy, everyone that has one loves them. But what else is there? What are those things that you just can't live without or really wish you had? I am open to feedback on any and all things baby. It's really starting to set in now. Even though it's a little early I'm having my first shower on the 15th and I'm totally freaked out that I'm not prepared. I know this summer is going to fly by, it already has so far, so I'm a little stressed.

BTW only 2 days and 19 hours left!

I'm such a thief

Okay so I stole this from another blog but thought it was so great. I am so going to remember this when I'm staying at home . . . I know all the rest of you moms will love it, too!
So my sweet friend Amanda emailed this to me a while ago and I just loved it. Some might think it a little cheesy or dramatic...but let me just say, it's true!

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still
in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers
strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house
and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found
an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the
family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on<>the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the
floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was
spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of
clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that
something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the
bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and
more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap
and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the
bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and
asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?" She
again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from
work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?" "Yes," was his
incredulous reply. She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

3 days, 20 hours and 45 minutes from now. . .

In that much time I will be able to confirm the predictions! My dad is convinced its a boy, I think its a boy and Cari and I did the ring test last night and it said boy . . . so it's either a boy or we're proving that all you psychic people and your old wives tales are WRONG! Either way I'm good, I just can't wait!

Six days and 19 hours from now . . .

Six days and 19 hours from now I will be arriving at Lakeview hospital for "the big ultrasound!" So I think its a boy, my dad thinks its a boy, Josh thinks its a boy . . . but who the heck knows? Only two people know for 100% sure right now if its a girl or boy- God and the child. I really can't wait for them to let me in on their little secret, it really isn't nice to keep secrets from your mommy. Especially when she has so much shopping to do in the next 4 1/2 months! Not to mention all the painting and other projects that daddy has to do. My dad told me yesterday to just go buy the paint, I don't need to wait until next week cause he KNOWS it's a boy (apparently guessing the sex of babies is a paranormal power my father has that I never knew about until recently).
So this week's cartoon and article on baby-gaga.com was very suitable and I just have to share. . .

Ultrasound, ultrasound on the wall…
by The Sarcastic Journalist
For a month before the “gender ultrasound,” I could tell you exactly the amount of time before we’d find out about the thing growing in my belly.

“Two weeks, three days, one hour and 10 minutes until I know for sure,” I’d say. “I can’t wait.”

Really, I couldn’t. I had dreams about the baby being a boy and then the next night, a girl. The gender ultrasound was all I could think about. I’d call friends up just to guess what “type of baby I was having.”

The way I discussed it, you’d think I was going to The Gap to buy a sweater. “Hmm, is it a boy type or girl type? Do you think these come in size medium?”

The day of the ultrasound was like every Christmas, birthday and wedding day piled into one. It was ultrasound day! The baby! What “type” of baby was I having?

I ran into the ultrasound room, plopped onto the table and said “All I care about is knowing if it is a boy or girl. Let’s get this party started.”

The ultrasound tech, at this point, got a little testy with me. “Don’t you even care if the baby is healthy?”

“Of course I care. Right after I find out the gender.”

Stay tuned for the big announcement!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!!!

My cute husband is 29! Seems kind of weird that in 363 days he'll be 30 . . . but now that we're having kids I guess it's time to grow up a little, eh? Actually I don't want to grow up too much, its too much fun being a kid! Here are some pics of "Lindsay's Day of Extravagance for Josh's Birthday" (as termed by Josh, not Lindsay)!
We started out at Little America for breakfast with my mom, Chris, Howard, Lily, Pam and Mcartny. Sorry no pics, I left the camera at home. Didn't want to torture Josh too much. Then we had friends over for a BBQ and ice cream cake. It was lots of fun!

Mandi's lovely gift of bright yellow running shorts (a la Bleeker's running shorts in Juno) and a bright yellow 'dress shirt.'

Thanks Mandi!

Today's blessings

The blessings I have today are:

1. Music. I express myself a lot through music. I wish that I could say through writing or creating my own music but alas that is not a great talent that I was given. So I rely on the talents of others who do create good music to assist me in expressing my current mood, feelings or emotions. And isn't funny how often you hear the right song at the right moment to express something? I love that!

2. Service. Service is such a blessing! It doesn't matter if I am serving someone else or they are serving me, it is a blessing to both sides no matter what. I love looking for opportunities to serve others because I know how great I feel when I am being served and I love to give that feeling to others

3. My mom. She and I are finally creating the kind of relationship we have both wanted to have, but we were both so stuck in our own crap that we couldn't just build a bridge and get over it. It's never too late, I'm just glad she is still here for me to get this opportunity with her. I love you mom!

If there is a relationship in your life that deserves healing I challenge you to build a bridge and get over it!

More Family

Indulge me, I have more cute pictures of my niece and nephew Penelepe and Oliver. I just have to share!!! They are living in New York and took a trip to Niagra Falls and to Palmyra to visit the Sacred Grove and Joseph Smith's house. I can't wait to go visit them!

Sorry Des, but I just had to post them!

Today's blessings

Each day this week I am going to post three different blessings in my life. It's a good way to reflect on all the great things and abundance in my life. What are your blessings today?

1. My husband, of course.

2. My home.

3. Baby Smoosh!

So much to catch up on!

Okay get ready for a super long post. But don't worry there's lots of pictures so that will make it easier to read. I like pictures!

Last week I had to go to Oregon and Washington for a business trip. So I dragged my hubby with me and we spent a couple of extra days in Astoria, Oregon. Yes that's right, that is where they filmed Goonies!

That is the house where they filmed the first part of the movie. Someone lives there now so this was as close as we could get :( But I don't blame them.

Here we are at the Maritime Museum. We got to tour a coast guard sailing ship which was really cool. The museum had a lot of cool history about boats, ships and the Columbia River. Here are some fun photos.

Guys dig chicks with big guns!

Monday night we went to the Salt Lake Bees game with Josh's family for Father's day and Josh's birthday. It was way super fun. Here are some pics of my goofy in-laws!

What a goofy bunch!

And here's just a couple of pics from the family reunion a couple of weeks ago. My cool, crafty clipboards sold for $12 each. Wahoo for me!

Sunday is Josh's birthday, he turns the big 2-9! Approaching 30! But if you spent some time with him you would think more like 10, but that's okay cause he's fun to be around.
Goodbye for now!
